Who is Cole Denton?

We live in a different world today but twenty-five years ago newspaper tabloids were a very common thing. Sure there are still magazines like People and Us Weekly that invade celebrities' privacy and declare the “World’s Sexiest Man.” However, the bizarre tabloids that claim outlandish things like, “Weirwolf Baby Spotted in New Mexico” or “Elvis Seen Eating at Local Pizzeria” have gone extinct or moved online exclusively.

What if those crazy tabloids were the only ones who really knew the truth?

This is the premise of The Dead Rock Stars. Not that tabloids know the truth about everything; but they know the truth about some things. What if Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, and many of the greatest rock stars from years past who tragically died too soon weren’t really dead? What if they faked their deaths to become secret agents and have actually been keeping the world safe for decades?

If this were true, it would change everything.

If this were true, and we wanted to take a look into their world, we would need a set of eyes that could interpret everything that goes on there. We would need an outsider like us who could make sense of it all.

Enter Cole Denton.

Cold Denton is the protagonist of the novel, The Dead Rock Stars. He’s not a rock star, musically speaking. He is a twenty-one year old computer wiz. His genius intellect combined with social awkwardness and vast knowledge of pop culture makes him exactly what the world needs in 1999; it just doesn’t know it.

His claim to fame—he created the first successful internet dating site called Connextion.com. He did this because of his longing for connection and desire to change people’s lives. Ultimately, his desire to change the world made him open to an offer only a bizarre tabloid could dream up.

Cole had no idea what he was in store for when a familiar looking man, sporting killer sideburns and the voice of an angel, handed him a business card with only the letters DRS on it.
